Mirage Edge is a phantom version of Force Edge used by Vergil in Devil May Cry 5 and Special Edition.
Appearance & Description
Like the Mirage Blades, Mirage Edge takes the shape of Force Edge, but in a spectral blue color with a blue aura that causes visual ripples. When swung, it leaves behind a blue trail.

Mirage Edge
A weapon shaped from Vergil's own infernal energy. There's something about this blade—its shape and attacks—that resembles Force Edge, the sword his father wielded so long ago.
Fast and furious, its rapid-hitting strikes can quickly overwhelm its enemies.[1]

Mirage Edge
So I guess Vergil can just straight up make a magic sword from thin air now? Just swinging his soul around like a blade…
If your pops can manage this, maybe you can too? Would you mind…y'know, giving it a shot? For me?
Mirage Edge
Apparently Vergil can materialize a sword with his magic. Since it wields a mass of magical power, it can be called a magic sword.
If your father can do it, you can do it too if you want to, right?
I'm interested, so please let me look into it as soon as possible.Vergil DLC Trailer

Gameplay
Devil May Cry 5
Mirage Edge plays almost identically to Force Edge in Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition. It is dual wielded with Yamato and incorporates some of Dante's attacks such as Stinger, Helm Breaker, Million Stab and Vergil's own version of Round Trip, Drive, and Over Drive, with the return of his unique midair Stinger move from Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition (which now goes a further distance).
However, the window to execute Mirage Edge Combo B unlike the prior Force Edge Combo B, requires the player to wait within a longer window to input the attack, likely to prevent overlaps with the rapid-tap-stabbing variant of Combo A (which still cannot be extended as much as Million Stab). Mirage Edge Combo B however, just like with the prior Force Edge Combo and Force Edge Combo B, can also allow Vergil to fill-up DT runes as the extended ending animation if left alone involves him sheathing the Yamato.
Under Sin Devil Trigger, the movesets gain enhancements carried over by his old Devil Trigger, but extra ones now apply.
- Mirage Edge Combo A (Force Edge Combo A) for its non-rapid-tap variant instead has Vergil unleash 2 thrusts in a row instead of one (rapid-tap-stabbing version is unaffected)
- Mirage Edge Combo B (Force Edge Combo B) can have its somersault-spin-slashes enhanced with extra taps for more hits.
- Likewise, SDT also increases the amount of hits Stinger (like most DT-enhanced versions of Stinger) inflicts via drilling through foes with increased hitstop, but drains extra SDT gauge duration each time it is used. The same also applies to High Time also gaining extra hits, but does not have increased hitstop frames.
- Over Drive on the other hand, has its shockwave size greatly increased.
As the Concentration Gauge increases, Mirage Edge gains multi-hit properties just like the 4SE version of Force Edge and also piles on top of the extra hits provided by the SDT-enhanced variants of Stinger and High Time. Mirage Edge also has stunning properties like the Blow Mode attacks of Balrog and the lightning attacks of King Cerberus.
Vergil's Sin Devil Trigger also provides a new super attack for the Mirage Edge called Deep Stinger, where Vergil dual wields both Yamato and Mirage Edge to rear back a bit, prepping for an eventual forward spinning-drill-dive towards his target for multiple hits that ends with a dual-reaping slash to the left with both blades. This super attack unlike the other two that Vergil has, provides full invincibility frames from the startup and duration, even when used in human form, and unleashes multiple lasting hits with one strong finishing attack at the end. But in trade, Deep Stinger has less overall on-demand damage compared to the other two super attacks.

Trivia
- Nico's report indicates that she is unaware that Nero is capable of manifesting a sword made out of his own demonic energy. In his case, it is limited to Showdown, where he shapes his demonic energy into a spectral Yamato.
