Kick 13 is a recurring, named technique for gauntlet-type weapons Dante wields. It is originally available for Ifrit in Devil May Cry, and has made appearances in a variety of ways in subsequent games. Its function is analogous to the Stinger technique for swords.

Gameplay

Unlike most normal kicks, the Kick 13 is a special mannerism to these kicks. It is executed by pressing Button ps4 r1+Button ps4 ls-up+Button ps4 circle in Devil May Cry and Button ps4 r1+Button ps4 triangle+Button ps4 ls-up or Button xbone rb+Button xbone y+Button xbone ls-up in Devil May Cry 4. For the likes of Vergil in games such as Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition, the input Button ps4 triangle+Button ps4 circle or Button xbone y+Button xbone b is used instead.

Throughout several games, Kick 13 also has the ability to break through the guards of defending enemies.

In Devil May Cry, the Kick 13 is a highly potent backspin roundhouse kick after a forward lunge, with Dante using fire to add extra damage to his feet; the attack can be upgraded to add more distance. In Devil Trigger, Dante releases a barrage of fast punches and kicks, via a one-two punch, two roundhouse spin kicks, then a finishing hopping kick-up.

In Devil May Cry 2, Trish's moveset includes a slower, unnamed version of Ifrit's normal Kick 13 when she is fighting barehanded.

In Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, Nelo Angelo's moveset when unarmed includes an unnamed attack that uses the animation of Ifrit's standard Kick 13. The final hit of Dante's Beowulf Combo A also uses a similar finishing kick-up.

In Devil May Cry 4 with the Gilgamesh, Dante throws out a series of 4 rapid kicks (a backspin pushing kick, inward kick, backspin roundhouse kick and another inward kick), ending in a hopping kick-up much like the DT Kick 13 with Ifrit in the first Devil May Cry. In Devil Trigger, a total of 7 kicks are performed during the initial barrage (forward inwards kick, back hooking kick with same leg, the original 4 rapid kicks, a backspin heel drop), then finishing with a double-jump-rising crescent kick akin to Vergil's Rising Sun with Beowulf.

In Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition, Vergil with the Beowulf equipped performs Kick 13 as the series of kicks akin to Dante's Kick 13 in human form with Gilgamesh (4 rapid kicks ending in a hopping kick-up), albeit with light claw marks acting as Vergil's kicking trails; the animation remains the same in Devil Trigger, though Kick 13 cannot be charged. Its input of melee + Trick may cause it to be interrupted too easily by a lock-on Air Trick, so a tactic to execute it consistently is to hold down the Trick button then tap the melee button while doing so.

In Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition, Vergil regains the prior version of Kick 13 with a new lock-on + back-to-foward melee input. Vergil's classic Rising Sun can also be performed by holding down the Melee button after the kick-up, almost akin to the DT Gilgamesh-version of Kick 13 (but can be performed in human form unlike in DMC4SE). Under Sin Devil Trigger however, Vergil adds in an extra inwards spin kick into a backspin heel drop (akin to Dante's DT Gilgamesh-version Kick 13) for a total of 7 kicks at base within the barrage.
