The Aquila is an Angelic weapon in DmC: Devil May Cry. They are a set of shuriken-like blades that emit energy waves during attacks, and greatly increases Dante's attack speed. Dante acquires them after defeating Bob Barbas.
Description
Aquila resembles a pair of large, three-pointed cyclone blades with curved edges, held in each hand. As an angel weapon, they have a light blue tint. This is one of the few weapons that holds little resemblance to the Rebellion.

- Aquila
- Lightning fast, dual wielded weapons. Their long range, and sweeping attacks, make them devastating against large groups of weak enemies.
- Devil May Cry: A Divine Comedy[1]
- Aquila
- Two small blades that resemble shurikens. Aquila means "eagle" in Latin.
Gameplay
The Aquila weapons are spun in the hands, and thrown around while releasing blue waves of energy when used, attacking enemies from a safe distance. Like the Osiris, they are great for dealing with multiple opponents, the weapon is also great for pulling in enemies, even though it lacks in damage increase since its upgrades only improve its overall range and none of the base damage of its skills.
Despite its lack of damage, it is arguably the best crowd-controlling weapon in Dante's arsenal as Round Trip is a superb lockdown tool, especially if stacked against multiple targets with charging it in between, with both versions of Buy-In able to draw in enemies to expose them to other moves. However, Round Trip can be cancelled if Dante evades or gets hit.
Movesets
As an Angel-class weapon, use of the Aquila is done through holding
/
in tandem with the other face buttons. It is equipped with Left on the Directional Pad. On the PC, Aquila is equipped through scrolling up with the mouse.
An an Angel weapon, every single one of Aquila's attacks can also be Jump Canceled using either Jump or Double Jump anywhere and at any point during the startup, attack, and ending frames of the move. This method of Jump Canceling doesn't refresh any abilities however, so it can't be looped into itself the same way that Enemy Step Jump Canceling can.
- The only Aquila moves that are an exception to this property are Big Slick and Caliber, as they both require an Enemy Step instead to Jump Cancel out of them (and as such require being very close to an enemy in order to do the Jump Cancel. Big Slick is especially finicky about this).
Unlike other angel weapons (or even other melee weapons), Aquila cannot parry enemy melee attacks, and cannot parry most projectile attacks. The only move Aquila is capable of parrying is the Witch's red sword projectile attack.

Background
Aquila was a Christian missionary, along with his wife Priscilla, written in the New Testament. The couple followed the Apostle Paul, becoming some of his closest friends and coworkers. Aquila and Priscilla are often cited as being responsible for strengthening the Christian faith early on in its development.
Aquila is also a constellation in the northern sky, and is Latin for "eagle," the constellation itself representing one that would carry Zeus his Lightning Bolts in mythology.
Interestingly, the weapon is referred to as "Yashichi" in the games files; much like Aquila, the Yashichi somewhat resembles a shuriken, and is a recurring motif in several Capcom games, often appearing as an emblem, power-up or weapon. Thusly, it is reasonable to assume that such a reference was planned for DmC before the name was changed.
Trivia
- The achievement associated with acquiring Aquila titled "No talking!" is a reference to the line from Devil May Cry 3, when Dante acquires the dual blades Agni and Rudra. Finding the weapon irritating due to the pair's incessant comments, he makes a deal to use them in combat only as long as they don't speak.
